Oracle Form Builder R6: Project Builder and Menu Modules

Course Overview

This course is the fourth in a six-part Oracle Developer series based on Oracle Developer Release 6. This course describes the features and benefits of Oracle Project Builder, how to create and deliver projects, and how to create new file types. In addition, the course describes how to create and manipulate menu modules, and how to manage menu modules.

Learn To:

  • Identify the benefits of using Project Builder.
  • Match the terms used in Project Builder with their definitions.
  • Create an empty stand-alone project using the Project Wizard.
  • Add files to an empty project by using Project Wizard.
  • Add an entire subdirectory of files as a stand-alone project.
  • Create a new connection to the Oracle database by using the pop-up menu.
  • List the operations that it is possible to perform against the Project Files.
  • Establish explicit dependency in a project using Project Builder.
  • Build Project Dependencies by using the Project Builder build options.
  • Deliver a project by using the Delivery Wizard in Project Builder.
  • Identify the items from which an entry can inherit properties.
  • Create a new file type in Project Builder by using the Module Type Wizard.

Unit 1: Menu Module: Creating
Duration: 3 - 4 Hour(s)
  • Match each component of the menu module with its function.
  • Match each component of the Menu Editor with its function.
  • Create a Menu Module by using the Menu Editor.
  • Match each Menu Module property with its function.
  • Match each menu item property with its function.
  • Manipulate the menu item properties to change the appearance and behavior of a menu item by using the Property Palette.
  • Create a menu toolbar by using the Property Palette.
  • Create a pop-up menu in a form module.
  • Attach the menu module to a form module by using the Property Palette.
Unit 2: Menu Module: Managing
Duration: 3 - 4 Hour(s)
  • Identify the methods by which a form module and a menu module can share code.
  • Match the menu item built-ins with their functions.
  • Replace the current menu in a form module by using the REPLACE_MENU built-in.
  • Sequence the steps to implement menu security on a form module.
  • Assign a role to a menu module by using the Menu Module Property Palette.
  • Assign access to a menu item by using the Property Palette.
