Block Part In QM Batch Management

Would like help in QM with containment. We use batch management in our system.  When a none-conformance is found in our system, QM needs to be able to track  the part number and block the part from any other activity.

There are several ways to do this, depending on your requirements.

1 - Use a type 04 inspection (QM tab in MM02) to move the material to QI at goods receipt, then perform a usage decision to unrestricted or blocked depending on whether or not the non-conformance is present.

2 - Use a type 08 inspection (QM tab in MM02) to move the material to QI when a stock transfer (MB1B) is performed because the material is non-conforming (i.e – reclass from a conforming material number to a non-conforming material number). Perform a UD to blocked.

3 - Do a manual movement to blocked when the non-conformance is present.

Use the Batch Where Used List (MB56) to follow the movement of the batch thru any of these transactions.

There are probably other variations that would work also, however you have to watch the financial implications for product costing when setting up any of these movements.
