Overview of Inspection Point

Inspection point

This shows identification of sample. To identify inspection points, you can define a combination of fields in Customizing.

There are inspection point types for equipment, functional locations, physical samples, and production.

Basically it is pointing in the process in which you repeat the tests set up in the task list for the inspection lot. e.g. you might choose to test every 200lbs of material, or one every hour. Each point is a set of results under the same inspection lot number.

In an inspection lot, we can have multiple inspection points.

- Number of inspection points equals to number of samples to be tested for the inspection lot qty.
- Number of samples not defined: Free inspection points.
- Time based ...e.g. I want to test at the interval of 30 mins.
- Qty based ....e.g. wants test at the interval of 50 kgs of production.
- Like wise event based.....and physical samples.

Q) I can choose inspection point user field combination in the inspection plan header.  But what I need is to define different combinations for each operation. Is this possible?

A) This is not possible as inspection point is defined in the header of the inspection plan.

A suggestion will make use of all the Identification in the configuration of the inspection point and use it as per your requirement for different operation.

This can be configured in:

SPRO -> Quality Management -> Quality Planning -> Inspection Planning -> General -> Define Identifier for Inspection Points

Change Inspection Point / User Field Combination

You can make use of all the identification field for your purpose (Text length 18, text length 10, Number length 10, number length 3).

Operation wise what is needed is to enter what you want to make use of.
