Define Loading Group in SAP

How do you define loading group in SAP?

You define the loading groups in SAP using this IMG path:

Logistics Execution
-> Shipping
--> Basic Shipping Functions
---> Shipping Point and Goods Receiving Point Determination
----> Define Loading groups

User will enter the loading groups defined here in the Material Master Record (MM01/MM02) for the Sales Data for each plant.

The shipping point determination can only be carried out by the SAP System if a loading point is contained in the material master record.

Since the shipping point is a requirement for the creation of a delivery, you should mark the loading point in the material master record as a required entry to ensure that the loading group is entered and can be copied into a sales document. To mark fields in the material master record as mandatory, you can configure it in section "Define Material types".

If you do not distinguish between different loading groups in your company, you should work with a standard loading group, for example, "0001" which must be specified in all material master records.

Configure Steps

1. Analyze which loading groups are used in your company.
2. Make use of alphanumeric key with up to 4 digits and a description for the loading groups.
3. Ensure that the loading group is entered in the material master records.
